Coronavirus Update from Waypoint

Dear Waypoint Families,

As our community copes with the fast-moving spread of the COVID-19 virus, our priority is the safety and health of our children and staff. Subsequent to CDC and our government’s recommendations for social distancing, we have made some changes to how we deliver our services.

We will provide in-person services to patients with urgent medical needs when treatment cannot be safely or effectively delivered via telehealth. We have implemented numerous safety measures, including patient screening, masking, and enhanced cleaning of patient care, staff and waiting spaces. Please review our new safety measures for all in-clinic visits starting May 2020.

Before your visit:

If you or a family member are showing any sign of possible COVID-19 symptoms, please do not come into the clinic; please contact your local health care provider first. Please call our office at 425-270-3238 or email us at scheduling@waypointpediatric.com We can change your in-clinic visit to a virtual visit or reschedule your visit to a later date.

It is our policy to cancel in-clinic visits for 14 days or switch to virtual visits if the child or a family member has any COVID-19 symptoms.

COVID-19 Symptoms include:

-Fever
-Sore throat
-Cough
-Shortness of breath
-Muscle aches
-Unexplained loss of taste or smell
-Diarrhea
-Headache

Please consider that our primary population here is medically fragile and exercise an abundance of caution.

Entering the clinic:

In order to reduce interactions in common areas and the waiting room, we ask that you wait in your car until a Waypoint staff member or your therapist comes outside to get you. This will also help us ensure that the clinic is fully sanitized and ready before the child starts their session.

Cloth Face Covering:

Please be aware that recent studies indicate that people who are infected but do not have symptoms likely play a role in the spread of COVID-19. This underscores the importance of having all parents/caregivers wear a cloth face covering while in the clinic and following proper distancing and hand hygiene. We require all parents/caregivers to use a cloth face covering before entering the clinic and keep it on until they leave the clinic.

Screening in clinic:

Your therapist or a staff member will ask you a few screening questions prior to every visit. If you or a family member have any of the symptoms listed above, you will be asked to leave and reschedule your appointment.  We will strictly enforce this policy so if you are unsure, please call prior to your arrival and discuss with our office staff.

Hand Hygiene:

You and your child will be required to wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds before we start their session at Waypoint. We have also placed hand sanitizer dispensers around the clinic for frequent use. Please encourage your child to follow hand hygiene outside the clinic as well.

Limiting people in clinic:

We would like to limit the number of people in the clinic so please take note of the following:

siblings and extended family will need to remain home or wait in the car
if not possible, please call to discuss options prior to arrival

Cleaning between visits:

Waypoint staff will continue to follow the recommended processes for cleaning and disinfecting with products registered with the Environmental Protection Agency. We are disinfecting ALL surfaces, toys and equipment used after every single use.  You will notice we are also trying to limit contact with so many different surfaces within a session.  Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.

Cleaning Schedule:

Mats will be treated with bleach or an EPA registered disinfectant after every use. Counters, doorknobs, cabinets, equipment and other hard surfaces will be wiped down with a disinfectant between each session. Toys used by children will be taken out of the gym and disinfected after every use.

Laundry:

Laundered items such as pillow cases or blankets will be changed between every patient and laundered with an approved cleaner.
