Allison Pick PT, DPT
Allison is a true Seattleite and has lived here her whole life. She attended the University of Washington for both her undergraduate degree in Neurobiology and her doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
Her passion for working in pediatric physical therapy began in 2006 while volunteering at a summer camp for young people with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases. She has volunteered with similar camps for 15 years and continues to be involved in the camp community. She is excited to be able to draw on that experience at Waypoint.
Her volunteer experiences, work as a caregiver, and professional career of physical therapy, have all helped Allison develop skills specializing in complex care provision, particularly for children with neuromuscular diagnoses. She has special interest in determining appropriate equipment, orthotics, developing comprehensive treatment plans that are meaningful to each patient, and connecting families with community resources to help each child reach their full potential.
In 2019-2020, Allison participated in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) program at the University of Washington. The LEND program provides interdisciplinary leadership training for 15 core medical disciplines. While in the LEND program, Allison created a tool kit to help families better connect and advocate for inclusion in community programs for all children with disabilities. This tool kit educates community organizations in the importance of participation for people with disabilities and provides them with resources for how to practically implement inclusive and adaptive programming. Allison continues to work passionately on creating more opportunities for children with disabilities to participate in their own community.
Allison loves to spend time with friends attending Husky football games (GO DAWGS), hiking, traveling (both in the US and abroad), meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, and sampling new foods along the way. She is always up for an adventure and has explored 13 different countries, tried skydiving, and learned how to slack-line.
