Katrina Shull
PTA
Katrina was born and raised in Washington state and has lived here her entire life. She spent her late teens and early adulthood with focus on Ballet and other forms of dance in hopes of going professional but injured herself resulting in her having to re-evaluate her future career path. She completed her AA degree at Cascadia Community College, then went on to finish her BA at the University of Washington with a major in Sociology which included several dance courses and prerequisites for a DPT program. Her life, however, took some unexpected turns that delayed her original goal of a DPT program. Eventually she was able to find her way back to her PT dream by completing her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant through Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland, WA.
Katrina has had a passion for working with children since a young age and immediately fell in love with pediatric physical therapy while volunteering at Seattle Children’s Hospital prior to getting accepted into the PTA program. She found it was the perfect way for her to blend her passion for children and physical therapy. She has been lucky enough to work primarily in pediatric therapy clinics since becoming licensed and can’t imagine doing anything else. She is always looking for continuing education and opportunities to challenge herself and provide a higher level of patient care, loves to share knowledge with PTA students to help them grow into becoming great clinicians, and has gotten the opportunity to guest teach at her alma matter for the PTA program at LW Tech. She loves the creativity (and fun!) involved in working in a pediatric setting and being ready to problem solve at any given moment to maintain a child’s focus and motivation to optimize progress in gross motor skills.
Katrina loves being a part of the Waypoint team. She is thankful for the many opportunities Waypoint provides her to continue to grow as a pediatric therapist while continuing to prioritize providing quality care in a fun and engaging way to help children gain confidence and functionality in their everyday lives.
Katrina loves to spend her free time outdoors with her husband and close friends camping, hiking, kayaking, or biking when the weather permits. She also loves quiet evenings and weekends at home gardening and spending time with their two cats and dog.
